Cherishing happiness and avoiding suffering lies in the core nature of every and each of us. To get rid of suffering and achieve happiness, we try with different kinds of technique and tools. Mindfulness is one of the popular methods among those techniques.
Whether it is in the modern world or in traditional ways, both use mindfulness to achieve something. Although both traditions use the same tool, the purpose in use seems different.
In the modern world mindfulness is used to decrease a momentary stress or depression, by being still. Traditional ways use mindfulness to keep aware of one’s mind so as not to follow after self grasping, and many other negative emotions.
In both practices, it is clear to see that both use mindfulness to achieve happiness: both immediate and long lasting.
